Match Report
Sherborne Preparatory School Girls-1st Team vs  Hazlegrove School
On: Saturday, 11 Nov 2023
Venue: Away

Our local derby against Hazlegrove is always a hard fought affair and today's match was no different. We played with our now settled 11 players and that includes two goalkeepers as both Esme and Hattie deserve their chance to play in the first team. Both did well today and only conceded the one early goal and they both made good saves to keep the score down to one, this included a triple save from Esme late on. In front of the GKs were a combination of Bella, Alma, Elodie and Freya the latter two not that keen on the position but doing an excellent job nonetheless. Some super transfers enabled a switch in play and opened up the middle for Rosie. The wingers worked hard in defence and in attack crossing well on a number of occasions and creating chances for others, the first of which fell to Freya who hussled the ball over the line with great persistence in spite of the good 'keeper. We piled on the pressure in the first half scoring through Beatrix (1) and Rosie (4). (I think) thats how it stayed in the second half so a very convincing win for the girls. Rosie was, as always the driving force behind the team and beating the opposition with pace and skill before calmly slotting the ball home for some lovely goals. She also executed some lovely passes setting up others in attacking positions. Beatrix too ran forcefully out of defence creating excellent opportunities for herself and for others.

Thank you girls, you listen and you make changes to your game as requested, you are a pleasure to coach.

Well done

Mr Reid
