Match Report
Sherborne Preparatory School Boys-U10A vs  Sandroyd
On: Wednesday, 25 May 2022
Venue: at Home

Not sure of the result reported on SOCS! However there was one winner yesterday and it wasn't the weather although it tried very hard to defeat us. Cricket/enjoyment/fun/pleasure was the outright winner. We were put in to bat by the opposition on a damp uncovered track, it couldv'e been tricky but the boys dug in and batted well. Tristan and Peter began well scoring with big shots to the boundary and well run singles. Curtis and Henry continued and more than doubled the score. Harry and Herbie followed and and continued in a similar vein. The score was now pushing 50. Peter and Digby went in for the final four overs and in spite of some well hit fours faced a devastating spell from Bear and lost four wickets (thats 20 runs). So we finished just under 50, a great effort against some very good bowling.

After tea we took to the field and started well, aiming to restrict Sandroyd to under 50. All of the boys bowled and fielded well and we were in the game until the final pair came to the crease. Bear and Savannah hit the ball consistantly hard and hit more than 40 in their 4 overs and only got out once. That took the match out of our reach.

We will need to work on bowling more consistently, to sharpen up a few things in the field and to work on a bit of range hitting so that we can clear the boundary more often. In the meantime I wish you all a wonderful half term.
